In This Issue: An Australian music festival is cancelled after 10 years, Sarah Blasko raises funds for the Refugee Council with show, the ARIA charts, competitions and more!

Music Festival Cancelled After 10 Years

Regrettably, Come Together festival has cancelled its 2014 event set to take place June 7 at Luna Park, Sydney.

Through a statement released on their website, the organisers have cited poor ticket sales as the reason behind the decision and have assured fans that the festival will return for 2015.

“The event remains as one of Sydney's only all ages concert experiences and for the last 10 years has provided many developing acts the opportunity to play the big stage and help build their fan base.”

The line up was meant to include Kerser, Jackie Onassis, Remi and many more Australian acts.

Full refunds are available from place of purchase.

Sarah Blasko To Play Intimate Show To Raise Funds For Refugee Council

Sarah Blasko will be performing an intimate show in Sydney to raise funds for the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) in response to last week’s announcement by the Federal Government that all funding would be axed to RCOA as part of the recent budget.

The show will feature a stripped back set and some surprise guests and will be held at The Giant Dwarf, Redfern, Sydney on World Refugee Day, which is Friday the 20th of June.

Sarah Blasko said “I'm emerging from what I'll affectionately call my 'fifth album writing cave' to play this special show at the Chaser's Giant Dwarf Theatre during Refugee Week. I'm an ambassador this year and The Refugee Council needs financial support now more than ever to continue their positive work within refugee communities in Australia. They are also an important force in lifting the veil on our country's treatment of asylum seekers. So, come watch me sing for the night and you'll be supporting them.”

Radio Free Kenya

Craig Schuftan and Kirileigh Lynch have taken their experience from their time at triple J and their four years spent in the vibrant culture of Berlin to bring art into the lives of the children at the Family Moja home in Kenya, where the idea of Radio Free Kenya was conceived.

“We wanted to help them build and run their very own DIY, bespoke, totally kick ass radio station,” says Kirileigh, “so that's what we're going to do. It's not going to be fancy and it won't play the hits of the 70's, 80's and today, but it will give these kids a chance to build something unique and hopefully radio will change their lives as much as it changed ours.”
